ADEY’s growth continues to heat up

ADEY is the UK’s leading manufacturer of magnetic filters and other components for heating systems. Its innovative solutions keep heating equipment running efficiently, and its products are now in over five million homes and counting across the UK and Ireland.

ADEY started out inventing magnetic filters for the domestic heating industry and went on to make chemicals that stop corrosion and biological growth within the systems themselves. More recently, it has added testing of water samples from domestic and commercial heaters to its portfolio, helping to ensure operational efficiency.

Despite having its head office in Cheltenham, ADEY chose to set up its lab facility in Kent in 2013. Cameron Hardie, Laboratory Manager and Project Scientist, explained: “The location played a really crucial role on the decision to open the facility here in 2013; there’s a strong chemical and engineering workforce in the area, so you have a really good pool of talent to hire from.”

Starting from just one lab and one office, the company now has three labs and six offices, with growth only set to continue: “We have expanded significantly from when we moved in, and having labs readily available on the site makes this continued growth very easy. It’s such an active community here, and the interactions we have between different companies in the area are really beneficial. We use local businesses for our needs, and others have become clients of ours too. Our labs now cover the full range of activities we offer, including microbiology, chemicals and development, and we are looking to expand our footprint again in the near future.”

“Although there were other industrial sites available in the area, having readily available lab space in a strong scientific and technical hub is an important advantage for us. However, the fact that we’re set in a nice, relaxing green space with an onsite pool is also a real plus!” Cameron concluded.
